MATUA.

MATUA is a sacred piece. Painted in homage to Charles Goldie and in honour of our Whakapapa. A tribute to the mana, wisdom and enduring presence of a Māori elder whose legacy deserves to be remembered, respected and honoured.

Through this piece I hope to give back by helping preserve the stories, identity and cultural significance held within our tūpuna (ancestors) ensuring their presence continues to be felt by generations to come.

Please note: This piece was originally painted by Charles Frederick Goldie. I truly believe he was & always will be, the only artist who could capture this kaumātua in the way he did. I hold a deep respect for both men and it was important to me that this piece was painted with that same respect.

• Medium: Airbrushed using IWATA equipment and high-quality materials.

• Canvas size: 1000 x1500 (stretched canvas).

• Recreation time: Approximately 6 months of painting due to the delicate nature. 

• Goldie tribute piece. 

• Shipping: Due to the size and special handling requirements of canvas artwork, shipping costs are calculated based on your location.
